Kholuy is the center of Russian miniature painting. The origin of it lies in the Kholuy icon painting art known in Russian and throughout the whole orthodox world from the 16th century. The miniature painting is characterized by elegance and is decorative and realistic. The color and line are subject to image expressiveness. Goods of Kholuy are hand-made, diverse in purpose, shape and dimensions. They are produced by authors in small parties.
The lacquer miniature has been inspected by the artistic Council of the Association of the Kholuy and has been authenticated as original works of art painted by hand on papier-mache box by the artist of the Association of the Artists of Kholui in keeping with the standarts of quality issued and approved by the Artistic Council of the Assotiation "Blistatelny mir" of Kholuy.
